Laser Hir Removal

ABOUT LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Unlike “hair-by-hair” treatments with electrolysis, the laser uses a wide beam which treats many hairs at once.

Because the Laser can treat dozens of hairs with each pulse, it is possible to treat larger areas such as the back, shoulders, arms, legs and face.

The Candela GentleMax pro can be used just about anywhere on the body, even sensitive areas such as the nipples, upper lip and bikini line can be treated easily.

The laser’s design allows us to customize treatment, according to your hair and skin color, hair texture, and location on the body.

This is a safe, fast, gentle and effective method for hair reduction.

In just a few Laser hair removal treatment sessions, you can greatly improve the appearance of skin which is disfigured by unwanted hair.

What parts of your body are good areas for treatment?

Where do you have unwanted hair? This laser hair removal system can help remove hair on the:

  • Underarms
  • Legs
  • Upper lip
  • Chin
  • Bikini area
  • Back
  • Chest
Does Candela GentleMax Pro hurt?

Pain is always a concern with hair removal. Waxing, tweezing, or threading hurt. Ouch!

Here at the Aesthetic Laser Centre we offer the Candela GentleMax system. It comes complete with a Dynamic Cooling Device which ensures maximum comfort during your treatment.

This solution instantly freezes the very top layer of skin. Within a couple milliseconds, the laser hits the same spot. The combination of cold and heat means most people will remain perfectly comfortable throughout the procedure.

It’s been compared to the feeling of snapping yourself with a rubber band. Yes, you feel it for an instant. Then it’s gone.

If you think you’re a little more sensitive to pain than the average person, you can take any form of pain killers prior to your treatment.

Then relax. You’re on your way to that hair-free look and feel you want.

Do you need multiple sessions?

You have many hair follicles even in a small area. Targeting all of them in one session isn’t possible, but each session leaves you with fewer active hair follicles. The number of sessions required depends on:

  • Skin tone and color of hair.
  • The size of the area covered.
  • The number of areas covered.

If you have darker hair on lighter skin, you will get the fastest results. The laser uses the contrast between hair color and skin color to guide it. A single area will typically take six to twelve sessions. When you come in for your consultation, one of our Aestheticians can assess how many treatments you’ll likely need.

How do you get ready for laser hair removal?

Unlike prior to a waxing session, you’ll want to shave before you go in for this procedure. Shaving not only removes the longer hair; it exfoliates the top layer of skin, giving the laser

direct access to the hair follicle.

Because the laser works more effectively on lighter skin, you should avoid sun exposure for 4-6 weeks before the procedure.

Continue to protect your skin for the followup sessions in the coming weeks to optimize results in the fewest session possible.

Don’t wax or pluck for four to six weeks prior to a session. If there’s no hair there, the laser can’t target its follicle. Are you ready to uncover smoother skin without unwanted hair?

Laser For Sun Spots

ABOUT LASER PIGMENTED LESIONS

The GentleMax Pro for pigmented lesions can effectively remove unwanted brown sun damage spots and benign keratoses without scarring.

The skin should be shielded from sun exposure before and after treatment for the best results. Some spots may require more than one treatment.

The GentleMax Pro can also treat diffuse sun damage which is often seen on the face, neck, chest and arms. Depending on the extent of sun damage, a series of treatments may be necessary. At the Aesthetic Laser Centre we have seen significant improvement with each treatment.

Benefits Of Gentlemax Pro’s Treatments For Pigmented Lesions

  • Lightening and removing “sun spots”, “age spots”, and brown blotches on the face, neck, chest, hands and other areas of the body
  • Lightening and reducing redness, dilated blood vessels and “broken” blood vessels on the face, neck and chest
  • Helping to control flushing
  • Removal of Seborrheic Keratosis
What is Seborrheic Keratosis

Seborrheic keratoses are the most common benign tumor found in older individuals. Seborrheic keratoses have a variety of clinical appearances and they develop from the proliferation of epidermal cells.

They often appear on the back or chest, but can occur on any part of the body. Seborrheic keratoses grow slowly, in groups or singly. Most people will develop at least one seborrheic keratosis during their lifetime. Although no specific etiologic factors have been identified, they occur more frequently in sunlight-exposed areas. The Gentlemax Pro produces an intense beam of light that burns and destroys the growth.

Laser light cleans (sterilizes) and seals as it cuts tissue, which reduces bleeding, pain, and healing time.

After Treatment

Areas treated by the laser(s) will be sensitive during the initial 7-10 day healing phase, and must be treated with care.As a result, your response to treatment will not be evaluated until after this initial healing phase is completed – typically 4-6 weeks after treatment.

  • Showers are permitted, but prolonged bathing is not advised. Heat, hot water, sauna, hot tub, and such will cause the treatment site to get inflamed and swell more. Do not rub with a towel or washcloth, because the area is extremely delicate while healing.
  • Any discomfort you feel (usually not lasting more than 6 hours) should be relieved with the advised product.
  • Do not tan the area treated. Use a sunscreen with an SPF 50 throughout the course of treatment. Avoid direct sun exposure on the site until the area is fully healed.
  • Avoid swimming and contact sports while the skin is healing, especially if there is any crusting of the area treated.
  • Do not pop any blisters, or pick any scabs. Call your Laser Therapist if you get a blister.
  • Do not apply make-up or skin rejuvenation products to the site for 24 hours.
  • Everyone heals differently, depending on your particular condition, the type of laser you were treated with, and the way your skin reacts to the laser.

Laser For SPider Veins

ABOUT LASER For Spider Veins

ABOUT

Laser spider vein removal can be used to safely minimize the appearance of facial veins and spider veins on the legs.

Although spider veins are not known to cause other symptoms, they can become very visible on the legs and face and are difficult to cover with makeup/spray-tans.

Laser spider vein removal is optimal for fair to light-brown skin types – V-VI cannot be treated.

A complimentary consultation is available to determine if you are the right candidate for this procedure.

Depending on the area that needs lasering, the average person may need anywhere from two to six laser treatments.

We recommend waiting at least 8 weeks before the next treatment as resolution of the vessels continues throughout the entire period.

Results are not immediate, but most patients see noticeable changes in the color and general visibility of the veins in two to six weeks.

The body will absorb the lasered vessels in three to four months.

Benefits of the GentleMax Pro Laser Spider Vein removal
  • Is a faster procedure than many other spider vein therapies
  • Used by over 10, 000 doctors and skin professionals
  • Extremely safe, doesn’t harm the surrounding skin
  • Results are longer lasting and aesthetically rewarding
  • Spider vein treatment is less painful than sclerotherapy
  • Can be used on the face, legs and other parts of the body
  • Laser uses Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) to increase comfort during the treatment
The Treatment

With a small handheld device, one of our specialized laser therapists will deliver each laser light pulse to the area being treated.

During the treatment, you may experience slight discomfort with each laser pulse. Many patients say that the feeling is similar to the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. However, the discomfort isn’t too bad since the device is paired with a dynamic cooling system.

This treatment can take a few minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated.

After Treatment

Immediately after the treatment, your skin may experience some redness and swelling to the area, which may feel like a sunburn. The discomfort can be cured with some ice and aloe vera, your laser therapist will apply some straight after your treatment.

This feeling could last either a few hours, or up to 2 days. There’s very little downtime after this treatment.

Directly after the treatment, avoid extreme heat, sun exposure, exfoliating or irritating products. If you’re going to spend time in the sun, use lots of sunscreen! Appointments should be scheduled 6-8 weeks apart.

  • How IPL works

IPL uses light energy to target a certain colour in your skin.

When the skin getsvheated, your body gets rid of the unwanted cells, and that gets rid of the thing you’re being treated for.

Unlike lasers, an IPL device sends out more than one wavelength of pulsating light. It can treat a range of skin conditions at the same time.

After IPL, you may look younger because your skin tone is more even. And since the light doesn’t hurt other tissue, you can get better quickly. .

What not to do & what to expect during your treatment
    • Before the procedure, don’t:

      • Tan in the sun, in a tanning bed, or with tanning creams for 4 weeks before you go
      • Wax, or get a chemical peel or collagen shots for 2 weeks before
      • Wear perfume, makeup, deodorant, or any skin irritants
      • Take aspirin or another drug that can make you bleed more
      • Take any medication that will make you sun-sensitive; for example, the antibiotic doxycycline.

Once you’re there, we will rub gel on your clean skin.

You’ll wear dark glasses to protect your eyes. The handheld IPL device will go right on your body.

The session will probably last 20 or 30 minutes. Large areas could take an hour or more.

While most people are fine with the light pulses, the treatment could sting a little.

We can give you numbing cream to put on 30-60 minutes before treatment starts.
